A Walk in the Light of Darkness

This book focused on how Dr. Wong Huey Siew went through his journey of life from being sighted to a complete loss of vision since Standard 5 at primary school. The stories are so inspiring and insightful. Many people believed that the life of a blind or disabled person was hopeless, useless, and meaningless. Is it true? He will share with you how he went through the painful moment and stood up again for his future.

Family support, the roles of volunteers, the encouragement of people around, determination, and effort have made the journey colourfully despite facing thousands of obstacles. Losing something does not mean losing everything. Never let others' words destroy you. Failure does not mean failing forever. Doing a simple thing is better than not doing anything. Along the journey, he shared various bittersweet memories. He managed to overcome his psychological and emotional challenges.

He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in 1995 at UM, a Master's Degree in 1998 at UKM and OUM in 2014, and a Ph.D. degree in 2006 at UM. Despite having challenges in securing a job, he was still able to obtain his career and served as an academician as well as several NGOs for the visually impaired. You will also understand the life of a visually impaired person in terms of social activities and hobbies. He stressed that adding value to ourselves, being thankful, and learning and problem-solving skills are the keys to success.
