Science Communication Workshop For Primary School Children
This workshop is solely to get student prepared for their scientific pitching in scientific competition. It is crucial for the student to be concise, clear and able to mesmerize the judges. Hence this workshop will be a platform for them to be exposed to current worldwide scientific trends and demands. Primary school students able to learn translate and communicate science effectively to laymen.
Goals/Objectives
a) Teach science.
b) Teach students the techniques of presentation including body posture, vocal variety, break the public stage fright, understanding your audience, organize pitch and teach student how to communicate science effectively with power to inspire the judge.
Instructor Biography
Dr Umaiyal Munusamy is a Plant Scientist and affiliate member of the Young Scientist Network (YSN) Academy Science Malaysia (ASM). Interested in science communication, plant biotechnology, transgenic research and plant microbe interactions.
Engaged in Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Festival (KLESF - 2016), delivered talk on Introduction of Agriculture Engineering at Secondary Schools, perform science show at the scientific competiton.
Speaker's other passion includes teaching refugee children voluntarily as part of community social responsibility.
