Early Childhood Curriculum
This early childhood curriculum book describes the important aspects of the early childhood education curriculum that teachers and students must master when teaching in nursery and kindergarten. This book aims to contribute knowledge about early childhood curriculum with the main focus on exposing students and teachers to curricula in Malaysia and the international level. The unique feature of this book is that it helps students in the nursery and kindergarten. Moreover, this book is the main guide for prospective teachers in all colleges or universities who follow the early childhood education programme because this book is a complete guide on the early childhood education curriculum. The topics presented in the book are in line with the requirements of the Standard Programme for Early Childhood Education from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The comprehensive content helps prospective teachers, students and even stakeholders understand curriculum concepts and theories.
Instructor Biography
Nordin Mamat is a senior lecturer at the Department of Early Childhood Education, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. He received his PhD in Early Childhood Education from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom and obtained Master of Education (Educational Sociology) as well as B.A (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His main specializations are curriculum in early childhood education, parenting and children's social behaviour. His research interests are curriculum in early childhood education, parenting and management in ECCE. Dr Nordin has published more than 30 journal papers in Malaysia and International journals in his fields and has written eight books including five modules in Early Childhood Education. He has been invited as a keynote speaker and presented papers at international conferences as well as published paper proceedings in early childhood education. He is also a member of the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) and the Malaysian ECCE Council since 2014.
Romarzila Omar is a senior lecturer at the Department of Early Childhood Education, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. She has considerable expertise in Curriculum, Early Science and Early Mathematics in the early childhood education area. Her research interests include early childhood curriculum, STEM and project-based learning in early childhood care and education (ECCE). She holds a PhD in Curriculum and Pedagogy (Early Science Education) and Master of Education (Curriculum and Pedagogy; Mathematics) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She obtained her Diploma in Education from Maktab Perguruan Batu Pahat and B.A (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She has been awarded "The Best Presentation Award" awarded by the ASEAN Education in the 21st Century: ICER 2013, Siam Reap, Cambodia in 2013 was also awarded for the second time as "The Best Presentation Award" by Innovations and Good Practices in Education: Global Perspectives: ICER 2014, University of Hue, Vietnam, in 2014.
