Instructor Biography

Dr Jeevendiren Chemen is presently the  Head, Centre for Quality Assurance at Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Mauritius. He has also served as the Head of Tamil Department and  the Head of School of Indian studies at the Institute, besides being the Chairperson of Tamil Speaking Union, a parastatal organization from 2009 to 2017. He has at his credit three books entitled  ‘Spoken Tamil : The Easy Way, book1, 2 & 3 and the introduction of  teaching/learning of spoken Tamil courses across the country in more  than 25 regions, besides publication of a number of articles in  journals and books published at national and international levels. He has a vast experience in teaching of Tamil language, literature  and linguistics at secondary and tertiary levels, and in curriculum and   evaluation. This present work entitled ‘Tirukkural:  A Soul-Inspired Pathway to Virtuous Living, Book 1 ( Virtue, Domestic  Life)‘ is the culmination of merely two years of reading, research, discussion and  analysis.
