Introduction to Superconductivity in Metals, Alloys and Cuprates provides an overview of superconductivity and the various superconducting materials at the elementary level. It is intended for physics, materials science and engineering students at the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate level. Emphasis on the physics and materials aspect is given. Basic characterization techniques and materials preparation methods especially for high-Tc materials are included. This book is also useful as a starting reference for aspiring experimentalists entering the field.

Instructor Biography

R. Abd Shukor is currently a Professor at the School of Applied Physics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. After obtaining his PhD from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1991 he continues to be active in high-temperature superconductor research. Since the early 1990s, he began delivering lectures on superconductivity to a stream of enthusiastic students from which "Introduction to Superconductivity in Metals, Alloys and Cuprates" emerged. He received a number of awards including the National Young Scientist Award from the Government of Malaysia in 1999 and serves as a Board Member in various physics and superconductor journals.
