Destiny's Child: Tan Sri Arshad Ayub A Musical
The beginning of Destiny's Child: Tan Sri Arshad Ayub A Musical is set in the village of Muar, Johor, around 1945, with the Japanese occupation of Malaya. The story then shifted to the time when Arshad Ayub continued his studies. The climax of the story was when he led ITM as its Director. His prowess in academia was seen after he was offered a scholarship to pursue a bachelor's degree in science in Economics and Statistics at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Arshad Ayub then falls in love at first sight with a sweet girl who works at a post office, Zaleha. After being stepped on, Zaleha finally accepted Arshad's proposal to unite them in a lively wedding ceremony in 1961.
After getting married, Arshad's career peaked when he was appointed as the first Director of ITM, now known as University Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Instructor Biography
SYAHRUL FITHRI MUSA was born in Johor Bahru and grew up in Melaka, but has lived in Kuala Lumpur since 1998, when he first studied at the University of Malaya. He is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Creative Arts, UiTM, affiliated with the Performing Arts Centre of Studies. His first involvement with theatre was with a theatre group, the Group Teater Anak Melaka, under the leadership of Allahyarham Yalal Chin from 1996 until 1998. He has participated in international performing arts projects in Indonesia and Singapore. He also represented the country at the Asean Youth Camp, Yangon in 2001 and the Future-Oriented Cooperation Project Seoul in 2005.
He has been actively involved in the theatre world as a director or actor in producing these plays: Tingginya Menyapu Awan, Rumah Kedai Jalan Seladang, Bukan Bunuh Diri, Kursi, Kali Ini Jam 12 Datang Lewat Dari Waktunya, Obsesi, Orang Baik, Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!, Root and Earth, Ronggeng Rokiah, Tunku Kudin, and Pentas Opera. His scripts are like Meja Bulat, Seribu Peluru Untuk Aku, Catan Buat Zuriat, Teater Eksperimental Rabak X, Jerjak, Gugurnya Kopiah Putih, Isteriku Tiada Susu, 1 Plastik Hitam, Muzikal Destini Anak Bangsa, Muzikal Mencorak Destini, and Mara!!!. His latest theatre scripts are Laki Hati Mati, Bukan Untuk YB, Keranda, and Jumpa SV, scheduled to be staged at the end of 2023.
Besides doing theatre and writing plays, Syahrul is active in drama productions, advertisements, and films like Wayang, Senario Asam Garam, and Chowrasta. In 2011, he produced and directed his first short film, Epal Hijau Di Luar Pagar, with FINAS, the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia. His second short film, Glimpse, has been officially selected and screened in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and Sri Lanka.
