Intensive Mathematics
Addressing the importance of fundamental mathematics for further study in the fields require mathematical knowledge and skills, the Intensive Mathematics introduces concepts from fundamental definitions of algebra and statistics as well as the theories and applications. The book aims to help readers intensively develop the fundamental knowledge of mathematics. It begins with prominent topics used in solving mathematical problems such as number and operation, algebraic expression, equation, function, index and logarithm. Once this foundation is established, subsequent topics required problem solving and applications are introduced such as sequence, application in business mathematics and statistics. Throughout each chapter, the concepts have been arranged from the simplest to more complicated and are explained in a comprehensible way. Relevant examples and exercises with answers are also provided. Intensive Mathematics is an excellent book for students and instructors.
Instructor Biography
Tang Howe Eng is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch Mukah Campus. Tang completed her PhD in Educational Technology (Mathematics) with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She has been a faculty member of UiTM Sarawak Branch since 2006. Having 14 years of experience in teaching Mathematics, her research interests lie in the area of educational researches, operations researches and statistical analyses especially in the application of computer and mathematical modelling. She has conducted extensive projects in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Leong Siow Hoo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Science, Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Sarawak. She has a wealth of experience in teaching mathematics and statistics at different levels. She has been involved in academic and research in the areas of mathematics and statistics for more than 15 years. She serves in the editorial board of journals and has been in the editorial board of conference proceedings.
Suffina Long Bachelor of Education (Hons.) maionng in Mathematics from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak. Master of Sciences (Teaching in Mathematics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Noriham Bujang Bachelor of Sciences (Hons.) Mathematics and Master of Sciences (Green Mathematics) from Universiti Teknologi MARA. Five years of teaching experiences in Essential Mathematics (Pre-Diploma), Basic Statistics and Business Mathematics (Diploma).
Aimi Nuraida Ali Hassan Mathematics Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Sarawak for 10 years. Bachelor of Education (Hons.) (Mathematic) from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Master of Sciences (Mathematics) in Applied Mathematics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Shirley Sinatra Gran Bachelor of Sciences (Hons.) Mathematics and Master of Sciences (Applied Mathematics) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Five years of teaching expreciences in Intensive Mathematics and Mathematics 1 (Advanced) for Pre-Diploma, Business Mathematics and Introduction to Statistics for Diploma level.
