This book provides essential information on the basic aspects of real estate terminologies, job responsibilities, professionalism in practising the real estate profession, concepts of value and factors underlying property investment and valuation, interest in land, purpose of valuation, principle of investment, and mathematics of valuation. The main aim of this book is to assist students in obtaining diplomas and degrees in estate management and other programmes related to valuation and real estate studies at universities. This book is suitable not only for student, but also for professionals in the real estate industry who require basic knowledge of the principles of property investment and valuation. Hopefully, this book can aid students and professional bodies in comprehending and deepening their overview of the real estate field.


Instructor Biography

Suwaibatul Islamiah Abdullah Sani is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, College of Built Environment for Estate Management, Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar, Perak Malaysia. She completed her PhD at the University Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, in 2015 in the area of Facilities Management. In tandem with her expertise, she is currently active in several publications as the main author and co-author in various journals and conference proceedings, both locally and internationally. Her main areas of expertise are valuation, facilities and property management, maintenance management, housing, and property development.

Rohaya Ghani is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, College of Built Environment for Estate Management, Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar Campus, Perak Malaysia. A PhD holder in housing from the Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her main areas of expertise are valuation, estate agencies, and stratified housing. She was with various valuation firms as an assistant manager before joining UiTM 26 years ago.

Nurul Sahida Fauzi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, College of Built Environment for Estate Management, Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar, Perak Malaysia. Her main areas of expertise are valuation, estate agencies, and corporate real estate sustainable management. Currently, she is registered as a probationary valuer and a member of RISM, PEHAM, and PERTAMA.

Siti Nadiah Mohd Ali is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, College of Built Environment for Estate Management, Department of Built Environment Studies & Technology, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar, Perak Malaysia. She graduated with an MSc in Real Estate from Universiti Malaya in 2010. Her main areas of expertise are valuation, waqf management, and statistics in valuation and estate agencies. Now, she is registered as a member of RISM, PEHAM, and the Qualitative Research Association of Malaysia.
