Quantitative data analysis is a scientific approach that allows researchers to learn a situation or phenomenon through numerical data. It helps researcher to apply the proper methods in collecting data, employing accurate analyses, interpreting the data correctly and effectively presenting the results. Quantitative data helps researcher to discover new knowledge and it helps them in decision making process. This textbook is written especially for Mass Communication and Media Studies students and social science researchers as a step-by-step guidance to analyse quantitative data. This book contains four (4) chapters. Each chapter is carefully explained the appropriate analysis step-by-step by manual calculation and SPSS software through relevant examples so that students can learn both methods of data analyses. Examples with computer output provide opportunities for students to understand and interpret the results of the SPSS output. This books also includes the exercise questions to test the students understanding upon completion of every chapter.


Instructor Biography

Ahlam Abdul Aziz is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UiTM Shah Alam. She completed her Doctoral studies in 2015 from Universiti Putra Malaysia in the area of Communication Technology in Organization. She has been working as a lecturer at UiTM since 2004. Her specialisation is Organisational Communication, Leadership Communication and Quantitative Research and Data Analysis.

Zaridah Abdullah is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UiTM. She has been working at UiTM for more than 20 years. She obtained her Ph.D in Human Communication from University Putra Malaysia in 2011. She teaches several courses at the faculty such as Family Communication, Communication Research Method and Quantitative Data Analysis in Communication Research. Her research interest is on Family Communication, Social Media and the Mass Media Effect.

Antashah Mohd Nor is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UiTM Shah Alam. He obtained Master of Art and Design in 2009 from Universiti Teknologi MARA in the area of Visual Communication and New Media. He has been a lecturer at UiTM since 2009. He teaches several courses at the faculty such as Principles of Instructional Communication, Instructional Content Design and Quantitative Data Analysis. He is active in research, innovation and publication in the communication field such as Instructional Communication and Instructional Technology.
