Concise Notes on Medical Microbiology provides comprehensive yet concise reference material for medical and dental students to quickly revise and understand microbiology-related topics. This book provides information on basic concepts of medical microbiology bacteria, viruses, as well as fungi that cause human diseases and discusses clinically relevant, system-based diseases. Topics such as vector-borne and zoonotic infections, antibiotic chemotherapy of infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, and infections in immunocompromised patients are also included to provide a comprehensive understanding of medical microbiology. Informative tables, illustrations, and charts are also provided for an overarching comprehension of the topics.
Instructor Biography
ZAINI MOHD ZAIN obtained a Bachelor Degree in Microbiology from the University of Malaya in 1983 and continued for her Master of Philosophy at the University of Liverpool in 1994 in Veterinary Microbiology. she then received her Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Microbiology from Oxford University in 2004. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA since 2006, teaching preclinical medical and dental students on basic medical microbiology.
CHUA ANG LIM is currently Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, UiTM. He obtained his Bachelor in Health Sciences (Hons) in 2006 and Ph.D. (Disease Diagnosis) in 2011 at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has been involved in the teaching and learning of MBBS students since 2011 and had held various academic positions in the faculty, such as coordinator for Respiratory System Module, e-Learning platform, and blended learning, Chua is a dedicated educator and has mentored many students to successfully enter clinical years.
