Introduction to Malaysian Public Policy is a book developed to comprehensively address both the theoretical and practical aspects of public policy in Malaysia. Written in an accessible style, this book is designed to introduce readers to the real-world process of policymaking in the Malaysian context. Drawing on their teaching and research experiences, the authors explain several key concepts related to public policy, including public policy theories, actors involved in the policymaking process, the policy cycle, types of public policy, major public policies in Malaysia, and current issues in Malaysian public policy. All seven chapters in this book provide detailed explanations in plain language, facilitating discussions about public policy in Malaysia. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how public policy is developed and implemented in Malaysia.


Instructor Biography

Mohd Rozaimy Ridzuan is a lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Science & Policy Studies, UiTM Pahang Branch, Raub Campus. He graduated with a Bachelor of Administrative Science from UiTM Shah Alam. Later, he pursued a Master of Administrative Science at UiTM Shah Alam. Concurrently, he also pursued a Master's in Public Administration at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Among the chapters in the book he has published are: Dasar Pengambilan Pembantu Rumah Asing Tanpa Ejen: Kebaikan dan Kelemahan Dasar Baharu, Undang-undang dan Isu-isu Kontemporari Mengenai Pembantu Rumah Asing, Local Government Act (LGA) 76 Tutor Calendar, and more. He has also written several journal articles related to public policy, and among his latest works are "Youth Awareness Towards the Malaysian Public Policies Under the Government of Pakatan Harapan" and "The Adequacy of the Malaysian National Community Policy: An Endeavour to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals". Additionally, he is actively involved in newspaper articles written for local newspapers.

Junaida Ismail (Dr) is a senior lecturer at the FSPPP, UiTM Cawangan Kedah, and has 16 years of teaching experience. She obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Public Management (2001) and a Master's Degree in Public Management (2003) from Universiti Utara Malaysia. In May 2020, she graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia, with a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy-Environment. Her research area is "The Advocacy Coalition Framework: A Study on Malaysian National Water Resources Policy". Currently, she is actively involved in research funded by the Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA), with the research area related to poverty and profiling socio-economics among society in the Northern Region. Besides that, several research areas of interest include SERVQUAL in academic libraries, academic dishonesty, water resource policy formation, and active learning innovation in teaching.

Nur Afisha Yusuf is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, UiTM Sarawak Branch, Samarahan 2 Campus, and has served since 2011. She obtained a Diploma in Public Administration (2007) and a Bachelor of Administrative Science (2009) from UiTM Sarawak. Under the UiTM Young Lecturer Scheme, she pursued her Master of Public Administration at the University of Malaya, was awarded a Master's Degree (with distinction) in 2011, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy on a part-time basis at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Her areas of expertise are Public Administration and Policy Studies. Apart from writing for publication purposes, she is also active in producing teaching innovations such as the 'Public Administration Glossary', which has won two bronze medals at the International E-Content Development Competition 2020 and the International Virtual Educational Invention, Innovation & Design Competition 2020.

Chai Shin Yi is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies at UiTM Sarawak. Originally from Kuching, she obtained a Master's Degree in Social Sciences (International Political Economy) from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2009. Having served for 11 years, she has taught subjects in Political Science and Public Administration. Her publications can be found in several journals and conferences since 2012; Journal of Administrative Science and Advanced Science Letters. In addition to research and publication, she has also contributed to the creation of massive open online courses (MOOCs) for UiTM and teaching innovations such as the Public Administration Glossary, which has won bronze medals in both the International E-Content Development Competition 2020 and the International Virtual Educational Invention, Innovation & Design Competition 2020. Being a former reporter with The Borneo Post, her research interest is particularly focused on areas of voter behaviour, especially youth voters in Sarawak.
