Professorial Lecture - Coronary Artery Bypass Graft: Surgery on a Beating Heart
The city we called home was a hive of activity, pulsating with the same intensity as the cardiovascular system. For decades, coronary artery bypass graft has stood as the gold standard for treating severe coronary artery disease. However, the invasive nature of the procedure, requiring the heart to be stopped and the patient connected to a heart-lung machine, often results in a slew of complications. That is when the Off-pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB) came in.
This book intertwines clinical precision with human experience, providing an in-depth exploration of both techniques. The author recounts the historical evolution, contentious debates, and personal milestones that defined OPCAB. He shares his own journey, from initial skepticism to mastery, offering invaluable insights and practical tips. Through compelling narratives and profound lessons, he illuminates the relentless pursuit of medical excellence and the profound impact of compassionate care. CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFT: Surgery on a Beating Heart is a testament to the enduring spirit of innovation in cardiac surgery, inspiring seasoned professionals, medical practitioners, and those who are curious about it.
