Based on true events, 'If you want to lose weight, go to the moon!' is a cheekily titled book that serves as a short memoir of the author's early beginning as a physics lecturer in a public university. Faced with the obstacle of having students who have a certain phobia of physics, the author tries to find an effective teaching method by recalling past encounters with various people, and a compendium of relevant facts and general knowledge. Without any formal teaching background, he decided to engage his students by a rather unorthodox storytelling approach using humor, and practical examples that they can relate to. He habitually dramatizes the history and theoretical understanding of physics concepts to make them more interesting, while at the same time showing the importance and role of mathematics in deriving physics laws.
